About Us

Welcome to the Nipissing Miniature Aircraft Club home page. NIPMAC is a Model Aeronautics Association of Canada (MAAC)  affiliated club, formed in 1974. It serves the area around North Bay  Ontario, on the beautiful eastern shore of Lake Nipissing.

History

The Nipissing Miniature Aircraft Club was formed on October 10, 1974   by 12 modelers from North Bay and Sturgeon Falls. These were: Ray  Brisson, Bob Cooke, Howard Mayer, Harvey Norman, Murray Norman, JJ  Paquette, Daniel Beauchemin, Germain Beauchemin, Ralph Bolitsky, Marcel  Bourque and guest Vic Thompson. The founding President was Mr. Ralph  Bolitsk. The club received it Charter from the Model Aeronautics  Association of Canada in 1975. The organization was affiliated with the  Royal Canadian Flying Clubs Association,  the organization controlling  all Canadian model flying. It in turn is affiliated with the Federation  Aeronautique Internationale (FAI), the world govern body in aviation,  both full size and model. NIPMAC's primary function is to help all club  members and potential members  enjoy the hobby and sport to the fullest  extent. Friendship and  a helping hand from all members shall be  apparent feature of this  club. The majority of club activity is  currently devoted to radio controlled, fixed  wing sport flying. Some of  the club members are also involved in helicopter flying and indoor  electric planes. We have quite a following for multicopter (Drones) and  some are into First Person View flying. Nipmac has volunteer Flight  instructors available to students on a  individually  scheduled basis.   Airtime preference will be  given to new  flyers. For more information  please talk to a member at the field or at one of our meetings. NIPMAC Constitution click here

What is MAAC?

The Model Aeronautics Association of Canada  is the Official Governing  Body for Model Aviation in Canada, acting as  a liaison to government  agencies, such as Industry Canada (formerly  Department of  Communications) with regard to radio frequencies and  their use in radio  controlled models, as well as representing our  internationally  competitive modelers to the Fédération Aéronautique International (FAI) through the Aero Club of Canada. MAAC also provides liability insurance to its members and chartered clubs, among many other membership benefits.
